I was working as a vet tech at the rescue league. A man brought "Mona" in and I thought he was bringing her for a vet check. He said no, he was getting rid of her, then he turned and walked away. She tried to follow him, as she had always done thoughout the 6 1/2 yrs of her life. I had to hold her back. I knew then there was nothing in my life that I wanted more at that moment than her. She is the reason that i do the rescue, I owe it to her. I love her as much now as I did when she was with me. She made me a better person, and she had no idea how much she really gave me. I didn't save her at all, it was she that saved me.

Shadow Leigh
1997-2008
Adopted by Mike and Gretchen Ocilka in 2003.
We’ll never forget the first time we saw her. She was in a kennel between two other dogs, and we just said, “Wow – do you think that could be her?” And it was her – the girl who completely changed our lives. She brought us so much joy and introduced us to so many new possibilities and new friends. We will always remember Shadow as a beautiful, wonderful creature, and we were lucky to spend five great years with her.
